MacArtney Hires Behrens as CCO

Michael Behrens has been named chief commercial officer of subsea technology provider MacArtney Underwater Technology from November 1, based at the company's headquarters in Esbjerg, Denmark.Behrens joins MacArtney from the largest steel and technical sales company in Denmark. He has a HD(O) in Organizational Leadership from the University of Southern Denmark, and is currently finishing an MBA in Business Administration. Behrens' career began in international sales, and over the years he has taken sales director and business management roles with leading technology companies from Saab to ABB.

MacArtney Names Omann CEO

Claus Omann has been appointed as the next CEO of the MacArtney Underwater Technology Group, effective August 1, 2017.   Current CEO Niels Erik Hedeager will at the same time take over as Chairman of the Board of Directors.   Omann’s technical and commercial background includes previous positions at LEGO, Viking Life-Saving Equipment and TRIAX in various senior management roles including technical director and most recently CEO.   Hedeager has worked at MacArtney for more than 28 years.

Can a Lobster be an Archaeologist?

The Society for Underwater Technology (SUT) has launched an illustrated book for 10- to 14-year-olds aimed at growing interest in the variety of careers on offer under the waves. The book, entitled Can a Lobster be an Archaeologist – Quirky Questions and Fascinating Facts about the Underwater World, is available from Wednesday November 25 with all proceeds going to SUT’s Educational Support Fund, set up to help young people pursue learning and development opportunities. Kongsberg Maritime created a European support center in Southampton, UK, for its Seaglider autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV). Seaglider is a buoyancy driven AUV manufactured by Kongsberg Underwater Technology, Inc. in Lynnwood, Washington. Due to the product’s long duration deployments for continuous measurement of oceanographic parameters, Seaglider has revolutionised the way in which oceanographic data is collected. The product has been designed to be as efficient as possible, accommodating a wide range of oceanographic sensors and its method of propulsion uses very little energy.
