International marine and engineering consulting firm LOC has appointed ex-Head of Engineering at BP, Ian Cummins as its new Energy Projects Development Director. Ian will focus on the oil and gas and renewables markets, and help to identify and develop new and innovative engineering opportunities to progress the business.

Cummins brings extensive major project management and engineering experience to LOC, gained from working on exceptionally large projects, significantly boosting LOC's specialist expertise in this area.  Throughout Cummin's career he has worked for an operator, contractor and engineering firm in a number of international locations leading and delivering engineering, projects and technology. Through driving industry wide collaboration and standardization initiatives in oil & gas, Ian has contributed to the sharp reduction in costs. As the scale of offshore wind projects increases, learnings from the cost reductions in the oil & gas sector can make a significant impact on offshore renewables projects.

With energy specialists in more than 33 locations worldwide, LOC provides services - including marine warranty survey - around the world for every lifecycle stage of an oil and gas project, from offshore exploration and drilling, to offshore and onshore development projects, operations and maintenance, through to offshore decommissioning.

Similarly, LOC Renewables is an established independent service provider to many of the leading offshore wind developments, wave and tidal energy projects. LOC Renewables covers design, engineering, analysis and warranty of every aspect of marine operations for successful project development.
