Upcoming Maritime Recruitment Fair at CMTI
Chesapeake Marine Training Institute (CMTI) says that Norfolk Tug will be among the maritime companies recruiting new talent at its professional mariner job fair August 13, 2014, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the CMTI campus in Hayes, Va. CMTI adds that Vane Brothers will also be on hand recruiting professional mariners.
Founded in 1998, Norfolk Tug is part of the American Waterways Operators and operates a fleet of 10 vessels. With tugs ranging in size from 66 to 100 feet, Norfolk Tug operates in ocean, coastal, near coastal, inland, bay and bay tributary waterways. In addition to tugs, they also provide for the safe movement of a variety of products and containers including fertilizer, coal, aggregate, petroleum, steel, and dredge products.
Norfolk Tug also provides “project work” services involving multiple barge and tug tows, dredge tending and scow tow work, and a variety of services for general assistance to marine based construction projects. According to Norfolk Tug, “We recognize that working on the water requires skillful judgment and leadership from the wheelhouse and port office.”
Among the mariners the companies are seeking include wheelhouse tug operators, engineers, and tankermen.
Mariners of all license and credential levels are encouraged to attend.
Chesapeake Marine Training Institute staff and instructors will be available to work with job candidates on licensing and credentialing needs as needed.
