Technip Recertified to Gender Equality Standards

Posted by August 4, 2016

Technip entities in Brazil, France and Italy have been recertified to the EDGE (Economic Dividends for Gender Equality) global standard for gender equality in the workplace, including the group’s headquarters and the Innovation and Technology center both located in Paris, as well as Technip’s manufacturing plants in Le Trait, France, and Vitoria, Brazil. With Australia, Malaysia, the U.K., United Arab Emirates and the U.S. certified last year, Technip counts eight countries EDGE Certified and remains the first and only company in the energy industry to achieve this certification.

EDGE is a global assessment methodology and business certification standard for gender equality applicable across all industries and countries. This independent certification, verified by a third party auditor and subsequently awarded by the EDGE Certified Foundation, underlines Technip’s commitment to gender diversity as one of the strategic priorities.

As stated by Thierry Pilenko, Technip Chairman & CEO, “Implementing and promoting inclusive practices is critical to Technip’s future especially in today’s environment. Not only it is ‘doing the right thing’, one of our values, but it also has real business sense. Greater diversity, by fostering collective intelligence and innovation, results in better performance and competitiveness.”

To reach this achievement, Technip in Brazil, France and Italy has undergone an extensive analysis of each local entity’s policies, practices and data in terms of gender equality, a study complemented by a survey of employees in each of these entities. The results were then compared to 2014’s to highlight the progress and identify the areas of further focus.

Katrine Sharp, Vice President, Group Head of Sustainable Development & Gender Diversity at Technip, highlighted, “This recertification is a clear demonstration of our ongoing commitment to better gender equality within the Group. It is very encouraging to see the improvements that have resulted from the implementation of specific action plans.  This measurement gives us a clear picture to help build the next steps for taking our strategy forward.”

Since 2014, Technip has progressively put in place more inclusive policies and practices, such as flexible working, and continues to raise awareness amongst managers throughout the Group about what it means to be a gender-intelligent leader.

“By becoming recertified EDGE Assess – in Brazil, France and Italy - Technip has once again highlighted its position as a global employer of choice. Its investment in corporate gender equality showcases that Technip recognizes the benefits of developing a gender-balanced talent pipeline,” said Aniela Unguresan, Co-Founder of EDGE Certified Foundation. “This recertification is a testament to the steady progress which has defined the Group’s impactful action plan for gender equality.  The recertified entities have showcased progress in terms of  strengthening their organizational practices to ensure equitable career flows for men and women, recording improved experiences from both men and women when it comes to their career development opportunities and shifting the numbers towards a more balanced gender representation across their pipeline.”
