Quebec Stevedoring enters 2nd US Port
This partnership between OBPA and QSL will create jobs and new maritime transportation opportunities by consolidating international trade in the Port of Ogdensburg. Quebec Stevedoring boosts the port's handling capacity with the expertise, equipment and credibility that has made its name in the maritime trade industry. " Stephen Mosher, Vice-president, NASCO.
At its October 1st, 2014 Board meeting, the Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority (OBPA) unanimously approved an agreement to grant the management of the Ogdensburg (NY) port terminal to NASCO (NY), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Quebec Stevedoring (QSL). The Port of Ogdensburg is the only US port on the St. Lawrence Seaway. It is also the northernmost port in the State of New York and one of the closest US ports to Europe. This makes it a highly economical solution for ships that handle import/export out of Ogdensburg.
This new partnership enhances the positioning of Quebec Stevedoring in the North American cargo handling industry and is perfectly aligned with its long term growth objectives. Experts worldwide point to Quebec Stevedoring's specialized, versatile facilities as the industry standard for solid bulk cargo handling. The company's unconventional development trajectory was even the subject of a case study at the University of Chicago School of Business. Since it was founded in 1978, the company has never stopped solidifying and expanding its position in the industry.
Establishing a company, forging partnerships worldwide and building reputable ports based on the Québec model are an outstanding achievement of which Quebec Stevedoring is proud.
"We partner with the best. We build solid relations with other passionate industry players. The partnership with Ogdensburg is a perfect example of this dynamic and we foresee good prospects for both parties in the years to come," said Bruce Graham, Great Lakes Stevedoring Vice-president, in conclusion.
