President of Nigeria Dismisses Heads of State Oil

Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has replaced the top four executives of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, according to his office said Saturday, speaking on one of the most powerful institutions in the country and source of 80 percent of state revenues.

Joseph Thlama Dawha replaces Andrew Yakubu as CEO of NNPC Group. Reuben Abati, spokesman cabinet Goodluck Jonathan, declined to give further details.

A senior source in the presidency, who requested anonymity, said it was because Jonathan did not like how Yakubu managed parliamentary investigation which was carried out in February on corruption in the oil sector.

So far it was not possible to obtain comments Yakubu.

Several articles and reports in media have accused NNPC of corruption in February and then central bank governor Lamido Sanusi in parliament presented evidence that the company had not sent a $ 20 million owed.

NNPC denies the charges, but the evidence presented to explain the missing money were teased.

Jonathan has come under intense pressure to clean the largest energy sector in Africa after a clamor of protest corruption and waste of the huge energy wealth.
