Maersk Gallant’s Yard Stay on Local Businesses is Conspicuous
In early May this year, Mærsk Gallant arrived at Lindø Industipark in Odense, where Fayard A/S is in charge of renovating the rig – an undertaking that generates 500 jobs in the community. According to the local tourist agency in Kerteminde, a town nearby Lindø Industripark, the effects of Maersk Gallant’s yard stay on local businesses are conspicuous. One of the most visible impacts is derived from accommodating people working on the rig-upgrade.
One of the local businesses that has experienced a positive impact from the activities at Lindø Industripark in general, but especially from Mærsk Gallant’s yard stay, is Kerteminde Byferie.
“Our peak-season has been prolonged considerably because people involved in the rig-upgrade needs housing. Our facilities are in high demand as we offer spacious apartments with fully equipped kitchens where people can bring their families and feel at home”, says Manager Hans Andersen.
Besides hotel- and apartment bookings, the local tourist agency assists with inspiration for leisure time activities to the employees and their families. “We have especially felt the impact of the yard stay on the local community during the off-season period. This counts e.g. increased activity in local restaurants, supermarkets, and specialty stores”, Project Coordinator Sanne Brigsted explains.
