 Leney Elected to Partner at Montgomery McCracken

 
Melanie A. Leney has been elected to Montgomery McCracken’s partnership.
 
Previously an associate with the firm, Leney is located in the firm’s Cherry Hill office and focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation at the trial and appellate levels, with an emphasis in maritime and transportation, employment litigation, products liability, personal injury, government investigations, and compliance and regulatory issues. She has also represented clients pro bono in civil rights and Federal Tort Claim Act litigation through the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey’s pro bono program. Leney is a member of the American Bar Association, the Camden County Bar Association and the Maritime Law Association. In addition, she is a member of the board of trustees for the Alice Paul Institute, a non-for-profit corporation that promotes gender equality through education and leadership development.
 
Leney received a J.D. from Rutgers School of Law–Camden. While in law school, Leney was an associate editor of the Rutgers Journal of Law and Religion and served as vice president and president of the International Law Society. She was also a member of the Civil Practice Clinic, where she successfully obtained SSI benefits on behalf of a client in an appeal against the U.S. Social Security Administration. Leney graduated with B.A. degrees in International Area Studies (Western Europe) and Romance Languages (French) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also received an international diploma, with honors, from the Institute D’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po). Melanie is fluent in French.
