Former Hanjin General Counsel Joins Montgomery McCracken

Wook Chung, former General Counsel at Hanjin Shipping America, has joined the maritime and transportation practice of law firm Montgomery McCracken. Chung will serve as Of Counsel in the firm’s New York office.

 
As General Counsel at Hanjin Shipping America, LLC and its North American subsidiaries for nearly 10 years, Chung handled all aspects of corporate, shipping and transportation law.
 
Chung focuses his practice on commercial transactions and contract negotiations. He has provided counsel on litigation and risk management, and general business operation and development matters. He also has extensive experience handling regulatory and compliance issues, class actions, antitrust and products liability litigation. Chung has been appointed as U.S. legal liaison for the Administrator of Hanjin Shipping Co. Ltd., in the U.S. Chapter 15 proceedings.
 
Prior to Hanjin Shipping America, Chung was a consultant attorney for a law firm in New York, where he provided counsel on international commercial transaction and litigation, and pretrial litigation. Chung also held various positions in Seoul, Korea, including counsel to a litigation law firm and counsel (JAG) to the Republic of Korea (South Korea) Air Force.
 
Chung received a J.D. degree from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center and earned a B.A. degree from Rutgers University. He is fluent in English and Korean.
