Dorothy Shaw of HII Receives "Forever Young" Award
Dorothy Shaw, Manager of community relations at Huntington Ingalls Industries',Ingalls Shipbuilding division, recently received the "Forever Young" award at the Coast Young Professionals' sixth annual Black Tie and Blue Jeans Gala. Ten "Forever Young" awards are given annually to influential leaders who have acted as mentors to the network of more than 300 young professionals in the organization.
According to Coast Young Professionals, "Forever Young" candidates are persons of professional integrity who exemplify the spirit of service to their professions and who have, by their leadership, made a significant contribution to the advancement of a Coast Young Professionals member's career.
Shaw has held leadership roles in the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Jackson and George Counties and the Gulf Pines Girl Scout Council, among other organizations. She has also spent 15 years on the Moss Point School Board.
"Dorothy truly has a passion for volunteering, and this award highlights her efforts," said Edmond E. Hughes, Ingalls' vice president of human resources and administration. "It would be extremely difficult for me to quantify the time and dedication she invests in our community. I am honored that Coast Young Professionals recognizes these contributions."
Coast Young Professionals is an organization of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce dedicated to developing leaders in Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana. The organization implements programs, community service projects and special events to engage this young workforce and provide tools to better their careers.
