Philippe Donche-Gay, President of the leading international classification society Bureau Veritas, has been promoted to the role of Senior Executive Vice President of Bureau Veritas, reporting to the group’s CEO, Didier Michaud-Daniel. His new role sees him lead the implementation of Bureau Veritas' strategic plans in parallel with his position as President of the Marine & Offshore Division.

Philippe Donche-Gay, commenting, said: ‘We have ambitious targets to continue the transformation of our entire business. One of the areas I will be building on across the whole Bureau Veritas organization is the progress Marine & Offshore has seen in pursuing a digital strategy. Additionally, the larger Bureau Veritas Group is an important source of expertise and capability that will benefit our marine and offshore sector markets. We expect to continue to broaden and deepen the services we offer to these important sectors.’

With €4.55bn in revenue in 2016 and nearly 70,000 employees, Bureau Veritas is the largest testing, inspection and certification body that offers ship classification, technical and risk services to the marine and offshore markets. Through acquisitions, such as TMC and MAC in 2016, it has been growing its risk management service capabilities and portfolio.

To further strengthen the Marine and Offshore Division leadership, Philippe Donche-Gay has appointed Matthieu de Tugny Chief Operations Officer (COO) of the Marine & Offshore Division. Under him will be the central departments of Marine Operations, Marine Technical Management and Marine Marketing & Sales.

Since 2015, Matthieu de-Tugny has been Senior Vice President, Offshore, with direct operational responsibilities for Marine & Offshore in North America and North Sea Offshore activities. He retains these responsibilities, in addition to his new role. Having joined Bureau Veritas in 1994 he has worked in a number of important roles, gaining experience world-wide. In 2002, he became Marine Chief Executive for France and in 2007 he was appointed Marine Chief Executive for North America, subsequently becoming Vice-President, Marine & Offshore, South Asia. He is a graduate of the Ecole Nationale de la Marine Marchande and the Ecole Supérieure d’Electricité in France.
