UK's Wood Group Ropes in Rolls-Royce exec as New CFO

John Wood Group on Wednesday named Arvind Balan, a finance executive at Rolls-Royce, as the British oilfield services and engineering firm's new chief financial officer, effective April 2024.Balan has been the CFO at the aero-engineer's Civil Aerospace business for two years and will replace John Wood's long-term finance boss David Kemp, who announced his retirement in August. Balan previously held executive financial roles at oil major Shell for fourteen years, before joining Rolls Royce.The appointment comes several months after buyout firm Apollo Global Management dropped

Wood Group Raises Profit Outlook on Contract Wins; CFO to Retire

British oilfield services and engineering firm John Wood Group raised its expectations for annual adjusted core profit on Tuesday, betting on contract wins in its energy and materials business to sustain growth.Wood scored major contract wins worth millions of dollars from Shell and Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) among others in the first half of the year.The company closed its order book at $6 billion in the six-month period ended June 30, which is 5% above December-end levels.Wood expects adjusted core profit for the full-year to be above its previous expectations while revenue is seen to be

Wood Group Workers Accept Pay Offer, Preventing North Sea Strikes

Wood Group workers employed on Shell's North Sea oil platforms have accepted a new pay deal, ending a months-long dispute that saw some workers down tools in July and August.   Labour union Unite, whose members voted 105-82 in favour of the deal, said proposed wage cuts were now less than first announced and that ad-hoc workers had gained greater work security and better options to gain permanent employment.   "Our negotiations with Wood Group allowed us to reduce the levels of cuts being proposed to our members' wages and terms and conditions," said Unite regional officer John

Wood Maintenance Workers Back Strike on Shell Platforms

As many as seven of Royal Dutch Shell's North Sea platforms could be hit by the first strike action in the basin in 10 years after Wood Group employees working on the facilities voted on Wednesday in favour of industrial action.   Wood Group workers are employed on Shell platforms to carry out maintenance work. North Sea Job Losses Raise Skills and Safety Concerns
