Hanwha Ocean Names New Head of Offshore Engineering
Hanwha Ocean announced it has hired Bram Van Cann as its new head of engineering for its offshore business.Bram brings to the role extensive expertise in the offshore and renewable energy sectors, with more than two decades of experience at SBM Offshore, ENGIE and Ocean Winds.
Keppel Wins SBM FPSO Conversion Deal
As energy markets start to rebound, Keppel Shipyard Ltd. secured a Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessel (FPSO) conversion contract from SBM Offshore N.V. (SBM Offshore). The contract calls for a VLCC to be converted into an FPSO, to be deployed to the Liza field, located approximately 193km offshore Guyana in the Stabroek block. The shipyard's work scope includes refurbishment and life extension works, such as the upgrading of living quarters, fabrication and installation of spread mooring systems, as well as the installation and integration of topside modules. SBM Offshore Nominates Wood as CFO
SBM Offshore has nominated D.H.M. Wood as a member of the management board and chief financial officer (CFO) to replace current CFO, P.M. van Rossum, who is set to retire. The company will hold an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on November 30, 2016 where it will be proposed that Wood be appointed as a member of the management board for a period of four years until the 2021 AGM. Barril Appointed COO of SBM Offshore
SBM Offshore is pleased to announce the appointment of Philippe Barril as Chief Operating Officer (COO) effective March 1, 2015. Philippe's appointment as a member of the Management Board is subject to approval at the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders to be held on April 15, 2015. Philippe joins the Company from Technip, where he most recently held the position of President and Chief Operating Officer. In his five years with the Company he also served as Executive Vice President and COO Onshore / Offshore and Senior Vice President Onshore-Offshore Product Lines and Technologies.
SBM Offshore Cuts Staff Strength
In light of market conditions and in order to optimise the Company’s cost base, capacity requirements have been reviewed with the objective of creating a productive environment for performing teams and maintaining our core competencies and technological edge. Regretfully SBM Offshore is in the process of releasing approximately 600 contractor staff and an equal number of permanent staff, totalling approximately 1,200 positions worldwide, over the period 2014 and 2015. Workforce reduction plans will vary by country, based on local legal requirements and in close consultation with work
