A former Peterhead Academy student who followed in his family’s footsteps into the oil and gas sector has been named by the global skills for energy body, OPITO, as its Apprentice of the Year 2017. Engineering Apprenticeship Pathways at RGU

The initiative, which blends worked based learning with academic study, will be available to young engineers studying in Aberdeen, those who are starting their careers, and experienced professionals who wish to develop their skills further. The university’s link with North East Scotland College also means that students there will be able to apply for an advanced apprenticeship through the scheme. Professor Ferdinand von Prondzynski, Principal of RGU, welcomed the funding which will help deliver the scheme to help students gain a degree with work-based learning.
