Oceans Advance Pilot Project: Young Women in Ocean Technology

identified as a means to engage and entice young women currently involved in oceans studies to stay in the sector.With this commitment by the Canadian Government in mind OceansAdvance applied for funding to bring a contingent of 13 young female ocean tech students from Memorial University’s Marine Institute (M.I.) in St. John’s Newfoundland as well as the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Much of the equipment is highly specialized and unique including fully motion capable simulators. The center also provides technical management and support of simulation equipment that is used by other parts of the Marine Institute.

Navigation Systems Donation Supports Industry Training

Rose Point Navigation Systems has donated its Rose Point ECS software to the Inland Logistics and Marine Institute at West Kentucky Community & Technical College, college officials announced today.   Steve Hearn, manager of external education programs - river operations at WKCTC, said Rose Point’s ECS was used to establish an electronic charting and radar training classroom at WKCTC's 631 Marine Way facility and will be used in the Marine Technology program.
