Thustmaster Expands Its Waterjets Team

Posted by June 27, 2017

Marine propulsion and thrusters manufacturer Thrustmaster of Texas announced that Leonard Hill and Jason Hill have joined its waterjet team, bringing with them more than 65 years of experience in waterjet design, manufacturing and sales.

Leonard Hill began his waterjet career at Jacuzzi Brothers waterjet division in 1978, and in 1984 purchased the waterjet product line from Jacuzzi to start North American Marine Jet (NAMJet). Leonard invented and introduced a new style of jet to the market place known as the TRAKTOR JET, which combines all the features of the conventional waterjet with higher thrust, especially at low vessel speeds.

Jason Hill has been working on waterjets since the age of 15, starting with NAMJet, and later moving on to Motor Services Hugo Stamps where he sold MJP and Alamarin waterjets in North America. Jason next moved on to Marine Jet Power out of Sweden as America’s prime salesman and program manager for the Ultra jet product line.

Leonard and Jason join Thrustmaster as the company continues to ramp up its waterjets focus. Thrustmaster acquired the IP rights for waterjets from Australian manufacturer Doen in 2014, and has since started building the Doen waterjets in Houston under the Thrustmaster brand name.

“We have made a big and long term commitment to become the leading player in the waterjet market,” said Thrustmaster president, Joe Bekker. “We continue to improve our existing products and add new models to our portfolio. Our service and parts support is already the best in the industry.”

Now Thrustmaster said it is working with Leonard Hill on yet another new waterjet model, the Hi500 waterjet, which offers a combination of the slow speed, high thrust of Leonard’s TRAKTOR JETS, and incorporates many of the characteristics of high speed jets.

Addressing he test results of this new jet, Leonard Hill said, “The success of the first three prototypes have greatly exceeded my expectations.”
