Dr. Thomas Lieb leaves Schenker AG

Dr. Thomas Lieb, 56, Chairman of Management Board of Schenker AG, will leave the company and the Deutsche Bahn Group effective March 31, 2015. He already resigned from his position as Head of Business Unit DB Schenker Logistics and Chairman of Management Board of Schenker AG yesterday. Dr. Lieb and DB group decided this by best mutual agreement.

The DB group would like to thank Dr. Lieb very much for his outstanding support and dedication over the years as well as for his achievements for DB Schenker and wish him all the best for his professional and personal future. Until a decision about his succession is made, Dr. Lutz Freytag, member of the Management Board of Schenker AG for Finance/ Controlling, will take over the position as Chairman of Management Board of Schenker AG on an interim basis.

After studying business economics in Reutlingen and graduating Dr. Lieb obtained his Ph.D. at the Institut für Verkehrsbetriebslehre und Logistik (Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies) of the University of Mannheim and joined Stinnes AG, Mülheim an der Ruhr, in 1989. In 1993 he moved to the Air and Ocean Freight business unit at Schenker and became member of the Board of Directors of the newly established Schenker International Deutschland GmbH, Kelsterbach, the year after. On February 1, 2001, Dr. Lieb was appointed to the Management Board of Schenker AG, where he was responsible for the global Air/Ocean Freight activities of the group. He also had the responsibility for the operational business in the regions Asia-Pacific and the Americas, as well as, later on, for all the other management regions.

With effect from July 1, 2008, he assumed the chairmanship of the Board of Management of Schenker AG. His focal points included further expansion of key customer support structured by industry as well as operational management of the management regions.
