The MITAGS Maritime Apprenticeship Program is actively seeking Apprentices for the Washington State Ferries. Graduates of this two-year program will earn an unlimited tonnage Inland Mate license, with additional STCW training.

The Washington State Ferry Maritime Apprenticeship Program provides a fast track for participants to work their way into the wheelhouse in as little as two years, as opposed to the more common six to eight year progression.

This state-registered, Coast Guard-approved program combines approximately 24 weeks of classroom, lab and simulation training with one year of service aboard Washington State Ferries. Apprentices train on most, if not all of the system's  21 vessels which operate on 10 different routes.
