TNPA Rotates Harbor Masters
Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) will be implement several inter-port transfers within its complement of Harbor Masters, effective July 1, 2018.The changes will allow ongoing development of TNPA’s Harbor Masters through their exposure to other ports within the Ports Authority’s network of complementary ports. Port of Cape Town to Open Training Center in September
Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) has completed the construction of its Maritime Training Center at the Port of Cape Town and the institution will run its first courses in September 2018.TNPA refurbished an underutilized building at the port to house the center, which will offer marine skills development programs and apprenticeships to youth from previously disadvantaged communities and employees within Transnet.The project is part of TNPA’s role as a lead implementer of Government’s Operation Phakisa program which aims to unlock the economic potential of the country’s Oceans

Qalinge Named TNPA Chief Executive
Shulami Qalinge has been appointed Chief Executive (CE) of Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA), becoming the first female CE of the organization. Qalinge succeeds Richard Vallihu who has been appointed Group Executive: Operational Readiness, Transnet Corporate Center. Both appointments are effective, July 7, 2017. Transnet National Ports Authority has made several senior appointments that will assist the division to sharpen its focus on the delivery of its strategic objectives and improve operational efficiencies. GE Transportation says it is seeking 50 skilled machinists to support an increase in production volume at its diesel engine plant in Grove City, Pennsylvania. In March 2014, GE Transportation announced a deal worth $700 million to supply 233 Evolution Series locomotives to Transnet, a large South African rail, port and pipeline company for delivery next year.
