ASL Hires Chawarski as Biological Oceanographer
in Fisheries Science.His work over the last several years has focused on a range of topics including mesopelagic and Arctic fisheries. Before joining ASL he’s worked with industry, government and non-profit groups such as the Fish, Food & Allied Workers Union, Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), and the Greenland Institute for Natural Resources.His technical expertise in scientific echo sounders and passion for marine ecology has brought him to some of the far reaches of the ocean. From 2018-2020, Chawarski worked with DFO to develop studies in the Labrador Sea as a part of the

naval and military operations. Taillefer has extensive operational experience in applying his expertise and knowledge in the oceanographic tactical domain. He spearheaded operational oceanography, acoustic modeling and decisional technologies with DND, General Dynamics (GD) Canada and Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) since the early 1990s. At GD Canada, his work spanned from coordination and installation of sonar systems aboard Swedish warships at two Swedish shipyards (Karlskrona and Muskö Naval Base), worked on the Sikorsky CH-148 Cyclone (MHP) program and the Aurora Modernization.  
Leslie Joins MEOPAR as Executive Director
18, 2016. Leslie has been heavily involved in marine policy and resource management throughout his career. His tenure at the New Zealand Ministry of Fisheries includes positions as Socio-Economics Manager and later as the Deepwater Fisheries Manager. Leslie returned to Fisheries and Oceans Canada in 2008 as the Director of Resource Management (Maritimes Region) before moving into his most recent position as Regional Director of Fisheries Management (Maritimes Region). Leslie takes over the MEOPAR Executive Director position from Dr. Ron Pelot, MEOPAR Associate Scientific Director
