Kongsberg Maritime Launches DP Training Course

Kongsberg Maritime has reported an increase in the number of delegates partaking in its training courses. From 2013 to 2014, delegates rose by 26%; there was also a 36% increase in courses delivered from its training center in Westhill, Aberdeen. Kongsberg Maritime announced the launch of its new Dynamic Positioning (DP) Introduction course, which has been reintroduced in response to new industry guidelines. Haugsdal to Take Over as Kongsberg Maritime Head

Egil Haugsdal has been selected to take over as President of Kongsberg Maritime. Haugsdal holds extensive leadership experience from KONGSBERG, currently leading Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies, with previous experience as Executive Vice President of Business Development and as President of Kongsberg Protech Systems.   Haugsdal will assume his new position after a short period of overlap with current president Geir Håøy, who will assume the position of CEO of KONGSBERG in June 2016.   “I am delighted with the confidence I have been given,” Haugsdal said.

Custom Engine Room Simulator for RAN

The Commonwealth of Australia (CoA), Department of Defence has contracted Kongsberg Maritime to develop and deliver a new K-Sim Engine simulator model to the Royal Australian Navy’s HMAS Cerberus training facility located south of Melbourne, Australia. The new model will run on the existing KONGSBERG K-Sim Engine desktop simulator delivered to HMAS Cerberus in 2013, which is maintained under a Long Term System Support Program (LTSSP) agreement signed in 2015. Hydroid Hires New VP of Engineering

Massachusetts marine robotics firm continues to hire in response to growth   Hydroid, Inc., a subsidiary of Kongsberg Maritime and a manufacturer of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), announced the appointment of Sandor Becz to the role of vice president of engineering. Baldwin to Lead Kongsberg European Seaglider Support Center

Kongsberg Maritime created a European support center in Southampton, UK, for its Seaglider autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV). Seaglider is a buoyancy driven AUV manufactured by Kongsberg Underwater Technology, Inc. in Lynnwood, Washington. Due to the product’s long duration deployments for continuous measurement of oceanographic parameters, Seaglider has revolutionised the way in which oceanographic data is collected. The product has been designed to be as efficient as possible, accommodating a wide range of oceanographic sensors and its method of propulsion uses very little energy.

Kongsberg Names New Manager for Offshore Production

Global marine technology company, Kongsberg Maritime has appointed a new business manager for the Offshore Production division of its Kongsberg Maritime Ltd base in Aberdeen. David Wilson brings to the role more than 27 years of experience in the marine engineering industry, the vast majority of which has been spent with Kongsberg Maritime. He has played an integral role within a number of teams, holding key positions within technical sales and business development, covering offshore support, offshore survey and construction, merchant shipping, marine research and naval markets, the comapny said.
