Arena Named VP at Shipbuilder

Industries announced today that Jon Arena has been named vice president and chief counsel of HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding division. He will succeed Jim Gildea, who retired on April 1.   Arena will be a key member of the law department’s leadership team, reporting directly to Kellye Walker, executive vice president and chief legal officer, and indirectly to Newport News Shipbuilding President Jennifer Boykin. EBDG Adds Two Staff Members

Elliott Bay Design Group (EBDG), a Seattle-based Naval Architect and Marine Engineering firm with offices in New Orleans and Ketchikan, Alaska, today announced the hire of two new staff members, one in Seattle and another in New Orleans. Marine Designer Paul Harman has joined the EBDG staff in New Orleans. He previously worked as a contractor in EBDG's Seattle office. Harman brings 15 years of piping design experience to his position with expertise in the design of tank barges and new construction of various commercial vessels. He is a graduate of Universal Technical Institute in Phoenix, Arizona.

DP World Raises $1B

DP World took advantage of strong market conditions and scarcity value to raise a $1 billion convertible bond with a ten year lifespan on Thursday, in order to fund growth opportunities and diversify its funding sources.  WEC Group has funded a partnership deal to acquire the business and certain assets of metal manufacturing specialist MTL Group out of administration, saving 135 jobs.
