Walker Named to Duluth Seaway Port Authority Board

The Duluth City Council last week appointed Tyrone Walker to the Duluth Seaway Port Authority Board of Commissioners. Walker, an ironworker with Lakehead Constructors and Ironworkers Local 512, succeeds Norm Voorhees, whose final term on the board concluded in early October. Walker’s appointment to the Port Authority board runs through October 10, 2026.Raised in Chicago, Walker relocated to Duluth in 2015 after earning his welding certification. Former Port of Oakland Staffer Returns as Commissioner

CEO Barbara Leslie has joined the Port of Oakland’s governing Board of Port Commissioners.  Ms. Leslie, a onetime Port Government Affairs Specialist, replaces Earl Hamlin who resigned from the seven-member Board.Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf nominated Leslie for the volunteer post.  The City Council appointed her this week.Leslie went to work for the Chamber of Commerce in 2014 as its first woman President and CEO. Liverpool to Lead Way in Cruise Ship Crew Welfare for Third Year

Maritime charity Liverpool Seafarers Center (LSC) has struck a deal to provide support to thousands of cruise ship crew for the third successive year at a special base at Liverpool Cruise Terminal.LSC CEO, John Wilson, said it has reached agreement with Liverpool City Council, and the cruise terminal, to operate a support center from a converted shipping container. New Appointments at Duluth Seaway Port Authority

Boyle, a nurse practitioner for the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, was first elected to the SLC Board in a special election in January 2014 to fill out the term of the late Steve O’Neil. At the time, he was a member of the Duluth City Council. He was reelected last November for a four-year term. Local labor leader Andreas Cluver and long-time community leader Arabella Martinez have been appointed to the Oakland Board of Port Commissioners. They join the Board February 11.   Nominated by Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, the City Council appointed Cluver, Secretary-Treasurer of the Alameda County Building and Construction Trades Council, and Martinez, Vice-Chair of the Latino Community Foundation Board of Trustees at its meeting February 2.   The Long Beach City Council on Tuesday confirmed the appointments of Long Beach City College executive Lou Anne Bynum and former City Councilman Doug Drummond to second terms on the Board of Harbor Commissioners.   Mayor Robert Garcia announced the reappointments last month.   Environmental attorney and Long Beach resident Tracy Egoscue joined the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners on Tuesday as the first Commissioner appointed by newly elected Mayor Robert Garcia.
